Hood Groove Management B-girl Smash
Nefeli Tsiouti who is also known as b-girl Smash has been dancing for 20 years, having as her main dance training classical ballet in Cyprus and Greece. She has obtained a BA in French Language and Literature from the University of Athens in 2009 and a Masters in Choreography from Middlesex University in 2011. She has been a Lecturer in Dance in Colleges and Universities across London since 2011. She is also the Artistic Director of Scope Dance Theatre since 2010, making hip-hop dance theatre, using mainly Breaking. Nefeli's professional performance and/or choreographic credits include Olympics Opening Ceremony, company Grounded, RIOT Offspring/Sadlers Wells, Open Art Surgery/Breakin Convention, Dance Umbrella/Barbican, B.Supreme UK Tour, Faraday's Cage film/Company Bricolage, BIDE, MOVE IT, The Place, Big Dance, Folk Dance Remixed UK Tour and more.
Since 2013, Nefeli founded 'Project Breakalign', a prevention of injuries project for Breakers, for which she has been working in association with DANCE UK's Healthier Dancer Programme, as well as with a team of specialised dancers, coaches, researchers and medical professionals. The Project is currently collaborating with UCL, and previous collaborations include Red Bull BC1 UK/World Finals,IBE (Holland), Street Style Lab (NY) and more.
Nefeli won the Lisa Ullmann Travelling Scholarship Fund in 2014, choosing New York as her research destination. She was also awarded the Bogliasco Foundation Fellowship for 2015 in Genoa Italy for further research on injuries in breakers, as well as the DanceHouse Residency in Cyprus the same year. In addition, she was one of the bgirls of the ELLE-Adidas MyGirl Global campaign in 2013.
As a b-girl she had participated in many competitions around Europe, and she has won titles in Greece, Cyprus and the UK in both local or international events. She WON first place in the b-girl catefory at B.Supreme 2013 in London, 2nd place at b-girl category at Who's The One?2014 in Athens, she reached Semi Finals at Battle Of The Year Balkans 2014 and those are just some of her achievements.
